Falcons School for Girls has hosted a series of innovative nutrition-focused activities, as part of an awareness programme living a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The Putney-based school launched the topical programme with a fun competition. Girls at the school really enjoyed designing a healthy three-course meal including a starter, a main meat dish and main vegetarian dish, before their culinary delights were put forward to a panel of judges.
The winning entries included a chicken burger with sweet potato wedges, guacamole with tortilla chips and carrot sticks with hummus, which were then rustled up by the chef and served for lunch to the entire school.
Enthusiastic Year 5 girls further educated their cohort through an engaging assembly discussing the importance of healthy living, meal ideas and how to continue this lifestyle outside of school.
To round off the focus and extend healthy eating into the home, the school invited parents and their girls to attend a specialist nutritional talk with expert advice from the school’s catering firm, Brookwoods.
Head of Sport, Amber Walters commented “Encouraging balanced, nutritional eating amongst our girls is incredibly important to us here at Falcons School for Girls. A healthy lifestyle aids a healthy mind, something that can help them in achieving their best academically.
“The pupils had great fun designing their meals and produced come interesting and delicious dish ideas, they really took on board what they had learnt in the assembly.”
